Abstract

SOARES, Adriana Benevides; SANTOS, Zeimara de Almeida  and  SANTOS, Giselle Glória Balbino dos. Students’ Satisfaction with Their University Courses in Different Fields of Knowledge. Gerais, Rev. Interinst. Psicol. [online]. 2023, vol.16, n.2, e19833.  Epub May 12, 2025. ISSN 1983-8220.  https://doi.org/10.36298/gerais202316e19833.

This study aimed to identify aspects of students’ satisfaction in relation to the course and university they attend. The study sample was composed of 78 university students aged from 19 to 50 years (M = 25.09 and SD = 5.65), mostly women, in their third to 10th period of Applied Social Sciences, Health, Exact Sciences and Humanities courses at public and private Higher Education Institutions (HEI) of the state of Rio de Janeiro. Iramuteq software was used for data analysis. The study helped identify which specific characteristics of each field of knowledge were crucial to the students’ satisfaction with the course. For Applied Social Sciences, the main characteristic identified was the Study environment; for Exact Sciences, the Relation between theory and practice; for Humanities, Training for the labor market; and, for Health Sciences, Training resources and Institutional support. These results indicate that students’ satisfaction with their courses depends on specific components, which can lead to improved adherence to studies.
