BARBOSA, Vilkiane Natercia Malherme et al. Cartography of women’s sexuality in a religious therapeutic community in the interior of Northeastern Brazil. Gerais, Rev. Interinst. Psicol. The number of therapeutic communities using abstinence practices for their users based on religious conduct is growing in Brazil. In this context, women in drug abuse situation can be treated differently due to gender and sexuality issues. Thus, this study aimed to analyze the place of sexuality in a therapeutic community in the processes of subjectivation produced in the daily lives of women who abuse alcohol, crack and other drugs. The method used was cartography, based on a six-month research-intervention process. Workshops, focus groups, and field diaries were performed, and the women themselves produced autobiographical reports. In this experience, cartography problematizes the religious practices of silencing the body and homosexuality experienced in the therapeutic community. However, these women also show practices of resistance. The research-intervention activities also succeeded in promoting strategies to confront this oppressive institutional context.
