This study addressed some issues related to young people from different territories: quilombos and the urban periphery—places they frequent, leisure practices, difficulties they face, among other issues. Reflecting on the territories in which young people live is important, since life happens in concrete, peculiar situations and territorial conditions play an essential role in their way of life. The study was carried out in both aforementioned territories in three stages: 1) participant observation; 2) workshops; and 3) semi-structured interviews. The data collected were analyzed using a thematic analysis, considering the intersectionality of social markers, that is, which territory is constituted by gender, class, race / ethnicity and others. Both in the quilombo and in the periphery, young people’s reports showed that relationships are weakened due to the obstacles that exist in political organization; the precariousness of health and education services; the scarcity of leisure activities; the lack of security, which makes young afraid to leave the house at certain times, among other issues.
