The objective was to verify the relation between professional interests and satisfaction with the work in Brazilian adults with active labor situation and to identify the variables that predict satisfaction with work and professional interests. 249 workers participated, with an average age of 30.53 years, 74.7% women and 69.1% declared to earn up to five wages. We used the Job Satisfaction Scale, 18-REST, Clinical Dimensional Personality Inventory screening version (IDCP-screening), and the Holland Workplace and Congruence Markers. The results indicated that the Entrepreneur and Conventional typologies correlated positively with the satisfaction factors at work. Entrepreneurship and income predicted 10% of job satisfaction. The relationships found between professional interests and work satisfaction were conclusive for Entrepreneur and Conventional typologies. It was verified that the professional environment is the variable that most impacts the type of interest.
