Resumen

FONTENELLE, Marselle Fernandes et al. Prevalence And Explanatory Factors Of Common Mental Disorders Among Bank Employees. Rev. Psicol., Organ. Trab. [online]. 2022, vol.22, n.3, pp.2136-2143.  Epub 29-Nov-2024. ISSN 1984-6657.  https://doi.org/10.5935/rpot/2022.3.23740.

The reorganization of the banks’ operating model, with important changes in banking activity and in the work context, had consequences for the health of bank employees. In this context, this research investigated the prevalence and explanatory factors of common mental disorders (CMD) among bank employees. Nine hundred and twelve bank employees from the State of Ceará participated in this research, who answered the Self-Reporting Questionnaire (SRQ-20) and the Work Context Assessment Scale (EACT). The results point to a prevalence of 45.4% of common mental disorders. Furthermore, considering the effect of sociodemographic variables on the prevalence of CMD, it was found that the variable of gender was significant, indicating that women tend to have more CMD than men. Work context variables (work organization, socio-professional relationships and working conditions) also significantly predicted CMD, indicating that worse evaluations of the work context predict higher CMD levels.

Palabras clave : mental disorders; occupational health; workplace.
