Currently, it is increasingly evident that health workers are prone to occupational stress. Thus, this article aimed to evaluate the prevalence and sources of occupational stress in workers of a public health center in the City of Nampula - Mozambique. This is a descriptive, cross-sectional, and quantitative study, which applied questionnaires on sociodemographic and labor data and on stress in health p rofessionals to 100 workers of both sexes and from different areas of activity. The descriptive analysis carried out using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences indicated that 33 workers from the total sample indicated that work often causes them stress, influenced mainly by career/remuneration, and family problems. Faced with this identified situation, it seems necessary to design and implement workers health care policies, as well as carrying out future research to improve knowledge about occupational stress and coping strategies.
