SILVA, Jussara de Souza; PAEGLE, Pedro Ainis Malischesqui; FREITAS, Jeniffer Cambi de  e  IMBRIZI, Jaquelina Maria. Remnants of the dictatorship in the dream narrative: the mourning work that transcends the pandemic. Rev. Psicol. UNESP [online]. 2021, vol.20, n.1, pp.276-298.  Epub 22-Nov-2024. ISSN 1984-9044.  https://doi.org/10.5935/1984-9044.20210014.

Dream narratives can provoke reflections on the obstacles to mourning resulting from security protocols that prevent farewell rituals in pandemic times. The purpose of the essay is to analyze two dreams, whose scenes refer to the dictatorship's memories. The link between the two historical periods is the experience of losing family members due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the actions of an illegal state. In Brazil, we are experiencing health, political, economic and humanitarian crises, as the presidential method for managing the pandemic highlights an inability to protect the life of the socially vulnerable population. The essay explains that people who lost their relatives in the dictatorship years fight for justice and recognition of the revolutionary life journey of their loved ones, while in the current pandemic period there is discourse and action by statesmen who deny the right to life of ordinary men and women who compose one nation.

Palavras-chave : mourning; military dictatorship; pandemic; dreams; Brazil.
