Abstract
ABREGO, Gabriela M.; PINEDA, Lizeth G. Ruiz and PEREZ-ORTIZ, Alfonso. Learning disorder and add effect in the T.O.V.A in children. Neuropsicologia Latinoamericana [online]. 2010, vol.2, n.3, pp.21-27. ISSN 2075-9479.
Omission errors (inattention measure) and commission errors (impulsivity measure) and reaction time (RT) (information time processing), are variables of a continuous performance test CPT, called T.O.V.A (test of variables of attention). These variables were compared within four groups. The first group was diagnosed with a Learning Disorder (LD), the second group was diagnosed with attention deficit disorder (ADD) and the third group was diagnosed with both ADD and LD. The control group has no clinical diagnosis. The results showed that there are not statistical differences among the four groups in the commission errors variable. The ADD group and particularly the ADD+LD group showed increased omission errors compared with control group. Lastly, RTs were significantly increased only in the ADD+LD group compared with the control group. We concluded that ADD+LD comorbility predisposes increased inattention and worsens information processing time compared with ADD or LD isolated. These differences are key issues for diagnosis and treatment.
