In this work I have made considerations about the construction of LGBT identity, use and appropriation of bajubá, the "politics of the closet" and fechação as a way of building the homosexual ethos. I have used ethnography in order to build an analysis focused on the dynamics of individuals with an aspect of language, in this case, with the bajubá. I have chosen to work with non-structured interviews and participant observation in order to establish a connection between symbolic references and the practical reality of the homosexual person, looking at the "closet" from their experience in Belém. I have found the use of bajubá composes part of the coming out and it serves as an aggregator in moments of sociability.
