SOUZA, Ítalo Morais Soares de y AQUINO, Thiago Antonio Avellar de. Reflecting on concepts of the phenomenological/existential psychologies of Frankl, Rogers, and Kierkegaard. Rev. NUFEN [online]. 2024, vol.16, e243463. Epub 25-Nov-2024. ISSN 2175-2591. https://doi.org/10.26823/rnufen.v16i01.24346.
This paper presents a view that brings psychological issues closer to the concreteness of life through the phenomenological/existential psychologies of Frankl, Rogers, and Kierkegaard. For that task, three main concepts will be analysed according to their correspondence and divergences in each phenomenological and existential psychology, i.e., Viktor Frankl “sense of life” concept, Carl Rogers “congruence” concept, and Kierkegaard “being oneself” concept. Similarities were found, such as existential tensions. Also, differences: the transparency of emotions for being congruent in Rogers and variety of tensions in Kierkegaard. We propose to reflect on an intersection of the authors’ concepts for psychological help relationships, which brought the consideration of all tensions and the expression of emotions to the realization of meaning. The present work considers the congruent individual to be who he truly is. Thus, it is possible to see the authors within theoretical crossroads with the boundaries of this article.
