Abstract

ANDRADE, Arthur Kelles  and  GOMES, André Luiz Barcelo. The Grief After the Sudden Death: A phenomenological perspective. Rev. NUFEN [online]. 2024, vol.16, e248285.  Epub Nov 25, 2024. ISSN 2175-2591.  https://doi.org/10.26823/rnufen.v16i01.24828.

This theoretical essay aims to understand how phenomenology can contribute to interpreting mourning after a sudden death. For this, death will be introductoryly approached socially and phenomenologically, and then sudden death and its particularities in different periods of history will be characterized. Grief situations, which for phenomenology is insurmountable, will be discussed in contexts of sudden deaths, such as maternal grief, grief after the loss of a family member who uses psychoactive substances and the unrecognized grief of health professionals, as well as possible ways out and resources found by the subjects in these situations that involve resignification of mourning and the way of existing in the world.

Keywords : Phenomenology; Death; Sudden; Grief.
