In a context of conservative advances and attacks on women’s sexual and reproductive rights, this article aims to discuss the Legal Abortion Programs based on the history, importance and challenges of the only one of these Programs in operation in the state of Pará. This article originates from part of my master’s dissertation whose methodology was a feminist cartography that held discussion groups at the hospital where the Program operates, with the hospital’s technical team, participation of the institution’s management and other services in the network of assistance to women who have suffered sexual violence. Based on the debates and interventions carried out, it was possible to describe the history of the only Legal Abortion Program in the state of Pará, as well as identify the reverberations of the discourses and prohibitions of abortion in Brazil, even in a service provided for and encouraged by the Ministry of Health based on the stipulations of the 1940 Penal Code.
