Resumen
FLEXA, Jucélia Pereira y CABRAL, Károl Veiga. Protection nets: what kind of protection networks do young university students need? From psychological suffering to suicidal acts in contemporary times. Rev. NUFEN [online]. 2025, vol.17, n.spe1, e-263682. Epub 19-Dic-2025. ISSN 2175-2591. https://doi.org/10.26823/rnufen.v17i1.26053.
This theme arose from the installation of safety nets between the floors of a classroom building at the Federal University of Pará, with the aim of preventing suicide cases. The objective of this article is to reflect beyond these networks, which other mental health care networks can be considered. This is an ethnographic study, with students participating in the research “Social unrest and the search for good living”, carried out since 2023. The results and discussions point to the weaknesses in the support and listening to the demands of these university students, evidencing that the networks cannot be restricted to the hegemonic care model, but that they should aim to expand low-demand promotion and support networks involving students, professors, technicians and university managers, investing in light care technologies.
