PINHEIRO, Wellen Karen Lobo y VALE, Kamilly Souza do. Gestalt therapy in the Amazon: recognizing roots through Study Groups in Northern Brazil. Rev. NUFEN [online]. 2025, vol.17, n.spe1, e-262497. Epub 19-Dic-2025. ISSN 2175-2591. https://doi.org/10.26823/rnufen.v17i1.26112.
This article investigates the development of Gestalt therapy in the Northern region of Brazil, with an emphasis on the activities of study groups, particularly in the state of Pará. The guiding question focuses on how these groups and academic institutions have contributed to consolidating the Gestalt approach in Amazonian contexts. Using bibliographic review, social media research, and testimonials from professionals, the study outlines a historical and political panorama of the expansion of Gestalt therapy in the Amazon. The results indicate that these groups operate as spaces for continuing education, epistemological resistance, and identity affirmation. The research was approved by the Research Ethics Committee under opinion number CAEE 84574724.6.0000.0018. It is concluded that such collectives and institutional environments- especially Stricto sensu postgraduate programs-play a fundamental role in strengthening scientific output and academic legitimacy, contributing to the development of a rooted, ethical, decolonial Gestalt clinic that is sensitive to the cultural realities of the region.
