Increasingly early teens are faced with the choice of a profession. However, they are not always maturity for such. This study aimed to investigate the maturity for professional choice among high school teens, comparing the scores between the genders, age and scholarity. Participated 234 adolescents, aged 14 to 19 years (M = 16.12, SD = 0.92) students from public and private schools in the northern region of Rio Grande do Sul. The Professional Choice Maturity Scale (EMEP) and the sociodemographic data questionnaire were used as data collection instrument. Descriptive analyzes were performed and Mann-Whitney Uand chi-square tests in order to verify percentile classification according school year. The study found a statistically significant difference in the Responsibility factor between gender. Older adolescents obtained higher scores in EMEP total and in Determination factor. In addition, statistically significant differences between total EMEP scores and other factors were found according education's year . From the results, expected thinking about intervention strategies for the adolescent public.
