The article presents a study about the exercise of motherhood in psychosis, mostly supported by psychoanalytic experience. In neurosis, the Freudian thesis of symbolic equation phalluschild and the hypothesis created through the Lacanian formulas of sexuation - the woman as mother, is located beside the man, regulated by the phallus, place of the subject of desire -leads us to consider a close relationship between motherhood and assignment phallic. When we questioned how a psychotic, out-of-standard-phallic, live motherhood, we observed a major obstacle to the Freudian argument, because the fail of symbolic reference to the phallus, due to the foreclosure of the signifier Name-of-the-Father, compromises the admission of sexual difference, as well as the response of the subject at the level of paternity and motherhood. However, maternity exists in psychosis, reason of our question: what is a son for a psychotic mother.
