NASCIMENTO, Charlene Cristina Pereira et al. Family Relationships and Parental Alienation After the Dissolution of Conjugality. Rev. Psicol. Saúde [online]. 2023, vol.15, e1521822.  Epub Aug 09, 2024. ISSN 2177-093X.  https://doi.org/10.20435/pssa.v15i1.1822.

Introduction: This research focuses on marital and parental relationships in the context of divorce, regarding risk factors and family protection against parental alienation. The objective was to discover the parental relationships after the dissolution of conjugality in divorced couples with children aged between four and eleven years. Methods: This is a qualitative research with a case study approach. Two fathers and three mothers who had children with their ex-partner answered the semi-structured interview. Results: Respondents reported experiencing conflicts during the separation period. Regarding parental involvement, which could work as a protective factor, the need for greater participation by the ex-spouse in their children’s lives was pointed out. Participants also reported being aware of parental alienation and said they sought to avoid relationships in this regard. Discussion and Conclusions: Conflicts in relationships can affect the development of children and affect indicators of parental alienation. The divorce process evokes stressful and conflicting factors, which can change the structure of the family and its functioning. A good relationship between the couple can prevent situations of parental alienation from occurring.
