Introduction: Brazil is the most anxious country in the world, with about 9.3% of the population with anxiety. These data indicate the need for psychological tests. Aim: The aim of this study was to verify the psychometric qualities of GAD-7. Method: Five hundred and forty-five adults aged 18 to 76 years participated (M = 37; SD = 12.9). CFA was used in order to verify the internal structure. The GAD-7 score was correlated with external measures. Finally, we compared the averages of the group without a history of psychiatric disorder (1) with people with a history of psychiatric disorder (2). Results: The unifatorial solution showed suitability in this sample. GAD-7 showed a significant, positive, and strong correlation with depression and a general measure of mental and negative health with well-being. The group of people with a history of psychiatric treatment had the highest average. Conclusion: The results of this study indicate psychometric adequacy of GAD-7.
