Abstract

PASSOS, Patricia Mascarenhas; SILVA, Rosana dos Santos  and  OLIVEIRA, Walter Lisboa. The Emergency Psychological Support as a Reception Device to the Subjective Urgency of Women in the Pandemic. Rev. Psicol. Saúde [online]. 2023, vol.15, e15262179.  Epub Aug 09, 2024. ISSN 2177-093X.  https://doi.org/10.20435/pssa.v15i1.2179.

The aim of this study is to describe the psychological care of women in subjective urgency who were assisted in a remote psychological emergency service in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. This is a qualitative research, with a methodological approach based on a case study built on clinical interventions and psychological records. Data were interpreted through a discursive analysis guided by psychoanalytic theory and illustrated with vignettes resulting from clinical practice. The complaints that led to seeking assistance referred to body symptoms, anxiety, mourning, insomnia, feelings of emptiness and powerlessness related to the social roles. By offering a space for listening and giving support, the emergency service enabled women to move beyond their complaints, towards the construction of a demand in the face of disruptions in their daily lives, the loss of presumed certainties about life, and reports of a loss of meaning associated with experiences of devastation. The emergency service emerged as a resource for women to access mental health care, facilitating the construction of new narratives and unique paths for the suffering associated with being a woman in contemporaneity.
