Abstract

SILVA, Stéfhane Santana da  and  NASCIMENTO, Ladislau Ribeiro do. Effects of the COVID-19 Pandemic on the Experience of CAPS AD III Professionals and Users. Rev. Psicol. Saúde [online]. 2024, vol.16, e16142462.  Epub Sep 09, 2024. ISSN 2177-093X.  https://doi.org/10.20435/pssa.v15i1.2462.

The COVID-19 pandemic began in March 2020, constituting an international health crisis. Thus, the research aimed to analyze its effects on the experience of professionals and users of a Psychosocial Care Center for Alcohol and Other Drugs III (CAPS AD III). An exploratory study with a qualitative approach was carried out, supported by a bibliographic review and narrative interviews. Content analysis was used, which resulted in the production of thematic categories and subcategories, later articulated with review data and the theoretical assumptions of the research. The analyzes resulted in four thematic categories that encompass the effects of the pandemic, risks to the health field, resistance movements and strategies for coping with the effects generated by the crisis in the institution’s daily work. The pandemic caused interruption of collective practices, reorganization of the flow of services, reduction in the number of places for 24-hour reception, loss of living spaces, and required the use of so-called Digital Information and Communication Technologies (DICT) to carry out activities. The need for investment in training processes through continuing education and popular health education was identified, with the aim of promoting the collective production of strategies to combat the pandemic.
