This study analyzes the potentialities and difficulties in managing the technical-pedagogical dimension of Matrix Support in the context of Brazilian Psychiatric Reform, in Belo Horizonte. This is a socioanalytical intervention-research in which matrix meetings between Mental Health Teams and Family Health Teams were observed and reflection groups with workers from such teams were made. An Expanded Collective of Researchers identified three analyzers of the matrix support’s technical-pedagogical dimension, thus we discussed: 1) the exclusion of some professionals, such as community health agents; 2) the existence of tensions between the teams; 3) the hegemonic concept of traditional education. In conclusion, Family health workers affirmed that Matrix Support transformed mental health care practices, which indicates that it can be strategic for the Brazilian Psychiatric Reform’s progress if it includes different knowledge and professionals without subordination, collectively building care practices.
