Considering the psychological suffering evidenced in work contexts, this study aims to describe an intervention developed with 14 workers of a public health service. The intervention was analyzed based on Dejours' Psychodynamics of Work, providing spaces for discussion on issues related to work, workers' health and their subjective mobilization. The method included stages of investigation, research and group intervention and qualitative analysis of the workers' statements. The results showed the institutional functioning mechanisms related to the experiences of suffering that encompass polyvalence, competition, illness, defenses and restrictions of acting. The meetings provided a space for speech about the experiences and kinds of subjectivation at work, which strengthened the integration of groups, the redefinition of the illness process and the deliberation for some changes in work.
