This paper discusses the implementation of the children and teenager’s welcoming, performed by three psychologists, between 2014 and 2018, in a municipality from the north of Paraná state, Brazil. Realizing groups for welcoming, it was possible to distinguish the demand directed to Psychology, to trace appropriate strategies for each case and to identify other professionals and important sectors to integral care. As a result, the waiting list for psychological care was extinguished, providing an immediate response to all cases and making possible other developments, including the intersectoral network. It is concluded that the reported experience points to ways for effective mental health care and it indicates the challenge of intervening in a contextualized and territorialized way towards children and adolescents.
