Since the enactment of the Statute for Children and Adolescents (ECA), we have witnessed significant advances in the field of policies aimed at the children and adolescents. Among these, we highlight the socio-educational measures, an intervention that came to break with hygienist and repressive practices legitimized by previous legislation. In any case, despite the vanguard of its proposals, socio-education, even through socio-educational measures, continues to show high rates of infraction. Such a portrait makes us question: what drives so many of these young people to return to the so-called “world of crime” even after the fulfillment of a measure? In order to better understand juvenile accountability, we problematized, based on psychoanalysis, three of its dimensions: legal, subjective and social. We believe that such a discussion is fundamental for the creation of socio-educational actions of a critical, emancipatory nature and really capable of impacting the reduction of infractional recidivism in the lives of young people
