This article discusses the struggle and resistance strategies of popular movements for housing from the concept of "war machine", proposed by Deleuze and Guattari. We discuss the concept in order to, based on it, address the following questions: How to produce a war machine, characterized by its nomadic "essence", as a potent device for those who fight for a place to live? And, after the conquest of housing, how to face in the daily habitation the dilemmas of the sedentary regularization of housing and the eruption of microfascisms that harass and prevent the expansion of life? The analyses presented are based on components, processes and social and subjective configurations mapped, using the cartography method, in a set of urban occupations Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, organized by the Movement of Struggle in Neighborhoods, Villages and Slums (MLB). We conclude about the importance of occupation strategies to summon potency in the midst of life's precarization.
