Throughout all his work, Freud persists on idea psychoanalysis was natural science. Although this Freud's explicit statement, scientific status of psychoanalysis was rejected by such tradition in philosophy of science and naturalistic interpretation is disregarded by a lot of postfreudian schools of thought. This paper aims discussing scientific foundation problem of psychoanalysis starting popperiancritic which consider it like a pseudoscience and contrasting with naturalistic interpretation which defend psychoanalysis like authentic natural science. For Popper, theoretical statements of psychoanalysis aren't scientific because it can't be falsifiable when subjecting empiric test. However, it underlies in popperian philosophy of science deductive-nomological model of explanation which is not the only possible in science. In some natural sciences like evolutive biology is present historical-narrative explanation that reconstructs chain of causal determinants that brought about emergence of events which it is impossible being approached by generalization lawlike. We defend here dedutictive-nomologic explanation is impossible in psychoanalysis, however it's possible historical-narrative explanation in this discipline which starting of mental events to be explained to historic reconstruction of chain of causal determinants that brought about its emergence. As of elucidation of explanation models in science, we can understand psychoanalysis like a natural science.
