FERREIRA, Vanessa Sajnaj  e  LAZZARETTI, Claire Terezinha. Reflections on a Clinical Case of Psychogenic Stroke Mimic from the Perspective of Psychoanalysis. Analytica [online]. 2023, vol.12, n.22, pp.1-23.  Epub 05-Set-2025. ISSN 2316-5197.  https://doi.org/10.69751/arp.v12i22.5183.

Cerebrovascular Accident (CVA) or Stroke is a neurological dysfunction that may affect cognitive and motor functions, being one of the main causes of death in the world. In this context, there are stroke simulators, so-called stroke mimics, which are clinical conditions with similar signs and manifestations to CVAs, of non-vascular aetiology. Among these simulators, there is the conversion disorder, of non-organic aetiology. Most studies about stroke mimics seem to have as objective the differential diagnosis and to be guided by the medical perspective, without deepening into subjective aspects. This article discusses a clinical case of psychogenic stroke mimic from the perspective of Psychoanalysis. It consists of a case study. The sample is a patient assisted in a high complexity public hospital, during a Multiprofessional Residence in Psychology. Through this work, it was possible to produce reflections about the connection between the psychogenic stroke mimic and the patient’s subjective history, based on Freud’s and Lacan’s theories.
