Adolescence is a moment characterized by an intense demand for narcissistic reorganization. Symbolic resources, distinctive of the relationship and bond with the other, are central elements for the subject to enrich his instinctual vicissitudes, towards narcissistic consolidation. However, the contemporary scenario seems to go against the possibility of creating bonds and exchanges with the other, when we think of movements such as individualization and performance. With these aspects in mind, we will discuss how digital media – more specifically social networks – can be thought of in contemporaneity as a device that contributes to the psychic elaboration of the changes experienced in adolescence and how, on the other hand, they can also cause psychic obstacles to this crossing.
