Abstract

FIGUEIREDO, Luís Claudio. Analytic listening / Poetic listening. Rev. bras. psicanál [online]. 2014, vol.48, n.1, pp.123-137. ISSN 0486-641X.

The paper is divided into two parts: the first one deals with the diversity of strategies for listening in psychoanalysis taking Freud as a starting point; in the second part, correlations are established between what we do as psychoanalysts and what is done by our colleagues who exercise hermeneutics on literary texts and, in particular, poetry. We try to go beyond the standard answer: "Listening with evenly hovering attention". As an ethical standpoint, floating attention persists throughout our entire history, but in technical terms the procedures differ, succeed each other and articulate themselves around metapsychological and psychopathological advances in psychoanalysis. Today, what prevails is that which we can call "polyphonic listening".

Keywords : evenly hovering attention; ethics of listening; listening procedures; poetic listening.
