Abstract

MENEZES, Luís Carlos. The language and the mourning work in the remembrance. Ide (São Paulo) [online]. 2007, vol.30, n.45, pp.8-12. ISSN 0101-3106.

The main purpose of the psychoanalytical process is to liberate a patient from reminiscences that carry the tenacity of the symptom and that make a patient suffer, severely limiting his/her life possibilities. Such reminiscences impose a hallucinatory actuality to the psychoanalytical process where analyst and patient are entangled, therefore constituting the grounds by excellence where psychoanalysis occurs. In this effort, however, one expects that through language one may gradually transform repetition into remembrance. This article sets particular emphasis on the loss that remembrance causes, to the mourning effort that the renouncing of a present eternized by repetition implies in the creation of memory by and in language.

Keywords : Language; Mourning; Remembrance; Repetition.
