SANCHES DE ALMEIDA, Leila. Social cognition and the construction of infant-caregiver affective relationship. Ciênc. cogn. [online]. 2006, vol.7, n.1, pp.42-48. ISSN 1806-5821.

The Network of Meanings (RedSig) takes social relationship in a dialogical perspective. It is a construction which is mediated by people, environment and contents of socio-historical matrix - such as the social values that integrates the social cognition. Thus, the present study aims to investigate the presence of social values in the process of construction of infant-caregiver affective relationship. The participants were two caregivers and four mothers with their babies four to nine months old. A total of 60 interviews were carried out with the adults along the first three months of the babies' attendance at a day-care centre. Some reports were constructed upon discourses which carried on social values about child care, infant-mother affective relationship, the social role of caregiver and babies feeding. Other people partake in the process through the discourse of mothers and caregivers. © Ciências & Cognição 2006; Vol. 07: 42-48.
