Abstract

This study aimed to analyze two moments of the project Apple Classrooms of Tomorrow (ACOT). Its first edition, the ACOT happened between the years 1985 to 1995. The second, called ACOT2, started in 2008. The two projects have been presented as a reference for educators who research and study the technology relations and interactions in the classroom. From the objective standpoint, it is a descriptive, in order to detail the characteristics of the technology phenomenon in two distinctly different times, so that favors the interpretation of the technology current context in Brazilian education. It is therefore a comparative study and discussion of the technology role and use in education, which showed a more social concern about the use of technology in ACOT2. While the ACOT technology appears to support the learning, ACOT2 defines six main keys for the century education, set in a digital society. It is not only the functional aspects use of the educational and technological devices in educational practice, widespread in the ACOT experience. In addition, ACOT2 born before the new discourses and forms of communication in virtual learning platforms, through collaboration, community, and interdisciplinary, characterized by the need to also know how to organize knowledge, aiming at solving complex and real problems. © Cien.
