Abstract

BARONE, Leda Maria Codeço. Trauma and filiation in Ferenczi: effects in the teacher/student relationship. Rev. psicopedag. [online]. 2006, vol.23, n.70, pp.42-48. ISSN 0103-8486.

Ferenczi gives some elements to build a filiation theory pointing at an equivalence between pair such as teacher/student, adult/child and psychoanalyst/patient. It is possible to formulate such equivalence because there is asymmetry between its members regarding the amount of experience, the degree of ego integration and the sort of language. Since the limits between these members are not clear, effects of one upon the other become both unknown and complex and end up by leading to trauma. In the present paper, I propose that there is analogy between Ferenczi's psychoanalytic filiation theory - understood as a traumatic phenomenon - and the teacher/student relationship in a formal learning situation. Comparing the pairs adult/child, teacher/student and psychoanalyst/patient, I will point at two possibilities: a relationship based on passivity, on a sort of compliant identification with the father, teacher, analyst and another one based on the activity when the child, the student or the patient surmounts the traumatic events involved in this relationship and acquires autonomy.

Keywords : Emotional trauma; Teacher student relation; Autonomy [personality].
