This article deals with the way in which the matter of temporality, in anthropology, has transformed into a candent theme which at times divides schools, and at others, unites them. From this debate, it is possible to think of different forms of history present in other societies, or even inscribed in ours: circular, evolutionary, progressive, chronological or even those which deny change and becoming. The essay makes wide use of stories, poems and musical lyrics.
