Abstract

DANTAS, Marilda Aparecida  and  AZZI, Roberta Gurgel. Occupational self-efficacy and perceived interests of students from public high schools. Psicol. Ensino & Form. [online]. 2015, vol.6, n.1, pp.52-71. ISSN 2177-2061.

This exploratory study aimed to identify and analyze the perceptions of occupational self-efficacy training and interests of a group of junior students from public high schools. The participants were 198 high school students, both male and female, from two public schools in the state of São Paulo with an average age of 15.63 years. The participants answered a characterization questionnaire and the scale of occupational self-efficacy of training and interests. The results identified the perceptions of students as to the ability required to successfully complete the training necessary to work in certain occupations of interest, reflecting theoretical coherence. The data indicated the possibility of limited information about the occupations for career development. We recommend further research to investigate other constructs of social cognitive theory of career and involving the participation of students of all years of high school.

Keywords : self-efficacy; occupational interests; high school.
