Abstract

GALEANO, Giovana Barbieri; SOUZA, Francisca Magalhães de  and  GUARESCHI, Neuza Maria de Fátima. State violence in Brazil: uninterrupted, deliberate and lethal. Rev. Polis Psique [online]. 2021, vol.11, n.spe, pp.112-137. ISSN 2238-152X.

The objective of this article is to discuss State violence in Brazil, based on three main vectors of analysis: concern with the preservation of the economy at the expense of protecting lives, the intensification of social inequality in the process of the precarious conditions of existence, and police lethality in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic. These three vectors are linked due to the logic of deliberate production of death as a political project carried out in the country. Our discussions are sensibly mobilized by the social processes of framing the forms of production and precariousness of life and its conditions of existence in contemporary times. We base our analyses mainly on the studies of Michel Foucault, Giorgio Agamben, and AchilleMbembe in articulation with other scholars who address the problem of exclusion, inclusion, and violence as elements of the management of lives and deaths in modernity.

Keywords : State Violence; Exclusion/Inclusion; Necropolitics.
