DOS SANTOS PAIMI, Altair  y  PEREIRAII, Marcos Emanoel. Physical aspect, stereotypes and racial discrimination. Ciênc. cogn. [online]. 2011, vol.16, n.1, pp.002-018. ISSN 1806-5821.

Abstract The objective of this research was to identify the way how students of Secretary deal with the phenomenon of racial stereotype during selective processes. This segment is closely associated to the color of the skin and the type of the hair. The sampling was compound by 162 participants of feminine sex, Secretary students from two colleges of Salvador, Bahia. A questionnaire was elaborated based on interviews performed in both colleges, the public and the private ones, with teachers, students and the technical team from the courses, and a self-steem scale was thought to analyze the answers. The results demonstrated that in general, the Secretary students are conscious of the existence of ethnic-racial criteria in order to take part on the workmarket. It was also observed that the participants vary on their evaluation about the phenomenon concerning to the secretary profession. That variation depended on the skin color, the institution, and the semester the student is following. It's important to understand how different contexts and personal variables can influence the observer and the target of the stereotypes. © Cien. Cogn. 2011; Vol. 16 (1): 002-018.
