GOMES, Vinícius Romagnolli Rodrigues. The odyssey of Ulysses and life as adventure: approaches between poetry and psychoanalysis. Ide (São Paulo) [online]. 2021, vol.43, n.72, pp.49-58. ISSN 0101-3106.

ABSTRACT The relationship between mythology and psychoanalysis is fundamentally important for the understanding of the human and subjectivity. Freud had a deep interest and admiration for Ancient Greece and the tragedies, appropriating it to broaden his view on the issues that arose in his clinical practice. Ancient myths are formed of the same tissue as the dreams and fantasies investigated by Freud, who rescued the power of the symbolic dimension by approaching the mythology of psychoanalysis. He showed us how to view life as a poem, and know our own individual myth in order to become aware of our actions and choices, thus illuminating dark aspects that went unnoticed. In this work, we used the epic poem of Homer's Odyssey to make an approximation between poetry and psychoanalysis.

Palabras clave : psychoanalysis; poetry; Odyssey.
