AMPARO, Thiago. The white cubes are us: structural racism and whiteness in the practice of psychoanalysis. J. psicanal. [online]. 2022, vol.55, n.103, pp.159-168. Epub 08-Jul-2024. ISSN 0103-5835. https://doi.org/10.5935/0103-5835.v55n103.12.
Knowing that racism crosses us institutionally as a society, and creates interpersonal dialogues in the daily lives of black people, how can we think about the relationship between psychoanalytic training and the racial issue? What are the points of attention when talking about an anti-racist psychoanalytic training? In this brief article, using Silvio Almeida’s typology, the author makes some considerations about the concept of racism as (i) individual and interpersonal experience, (ii) institutionalized politics; and (iii) structure. Based on thinkers such as the psychologist, writer and artist Grada Kilomba and the thinker Robin D’Angelo, the author also correlates the concept of racism and its different facets and forms of manifestation in Brazilian society - and shows how, although we already have knowledge of this problematic situation, it is time to reverse this often forgotten content (and, why not, also through psychoanalysis).
