^lpt^aO caso clínico de Lucy R. - o terceiro da série de análises em Estudos sobre a histeria - marca o lento abandono da hipnose por Freud e algumas transformações teóricas enunciadas com certa timidez. No tocante ao vocabulário, nota-se a aparição dos substantivos “inconsciente” e “interpretação” em meio ao quadro teórico enunciado na “Comunicação Preliminar”, causando um primeiro desequilíbrio das teses iniciais do livro. No plano narrativo, encontramos Freud às voltas com uma paciente indecisa entre a paixão que sente pelo patrão e o respeito aos princípios morais, cuja incerteza parece refletir-se na indecisão do próprio terapeuta, que abandona a terapia pela hipnose no mesmo momento em que procura, paradoxalmente, reafirmar seu valor.^len^aLucy R’s clinical case - the third presented in Studies in Hysteria - brings forward the slow overcoming of hypnosis and some theoretical changes proposed by Freud in a rather prudent language. As to the vocabulary, one notices the discreet appearance of the nouns “unconscious” and “interpretation” inside the theoretical frame of the “Preliminary Statement” modifying the initial assumptions of the book. On the narrative level, we find Freud dealing with an insecure young woman, unable to choose between recognizing her passion for the boss or respecting her moral duties. Her uncertainty seems reflected by the indecision of her own therapist who leaves the hypnotic therapy while paradoxically engaged in reassuring its meaning and value.
