^lpt^aRESUMO Neste trabalho o autor, com base no pressuposto de que a psicanálise se identifica com uma função psicanalítica da mente, e que isso significa o caráter científico da pesquisa psicanalítica, ilustra tal pesquisa na vida e na obra de dois autores, que, curiosamente, produzem no mesmo ano de 1899 suas obras mais significativas: Freud com A interpretações dos sonhos e Conrad com Coração das trevas.^len^aABSTRACT In this work, the author, based on the assumption that psychoanalysis identifies with a psychoanalytic function of the mind, and that this means the scientific character of psychoanalytic research, illustrates such research in the life and work of two authors, who, curiously, produce in the same year of 1899 their most significant works: Freud with The Interpretations of Dreams and Conrad with Heart of Darkness.
