^lpt^aTomando como ponto de partida as justificáveis objeções à formação hegemonicamente tecnicista oferecida aos psicólogos brasileiros, oriundas de diversos campos de saber, o trabalho examina o apelo à historiografia do grupalismo como recurso virtualmente apto a instaurar caminhos alternativos. Dentre os perigos do encontro entre grupalismo e historiografia, destaca as presenças freqüentes do especialismo acrítico e do teoricismo hipertrofiado nas reconstituições historiográficas elaboradas por diversos autores, características que, combinadas, reintroduziriam exatamente aquele tecnicismo que, em princípio, se aspiraria a combater. Paralelamente, vislumbra promessas de vias formativas originais, singulares e críticas, em alguns outros trabalhos historiográficos marcados pela perspectiva externalista, pela transdisciplinariedade e pela análise institucional das práticas grupais.^len^aTaking as starting point the objections to the technical character of the Brazilian psychologists' graduation, coming from several fields of knowledge, this paper examines the use of the group approach historiography as resource for alternative possibilities. Among the dangers of the encounter between group approach and historiography, it highlights the constant presence of the uncritical expertise and of the overstated emphasis on theory in the historiographical rebuildings elaborated by several authors, associated characteristics that would introduce again the criticized technical character in psychologists'graduation. Parallelly, this paper finds promises of original, critic and singular formative ways in some other historiographical works marked by the historical externalism, the transversal approach of the disciplines and the institutional analysis of group work and group therapy.
