^lpt^aO objetivo deste trabalho é desenvolver um estudo comparativo entre dois importantes contos da literatura mundial: A queda da casa de Usher, de Edgar Allan Poe, e Casa Tomada, de Julio Cortázar. Inicialmente, procederemos a uma análise individual de cada um dos contos, para, em seguida, confrontar os dois textos, buscando identificar suas semelhanças e diferenças. A metodologia utilizada em nosso trabalho se apoiará na teoria da intertextualidade, que procura mostrar, em linhas gerais, de que forma um autor utiliza outro como fonte, ou seja, como uma obra encontra sua própria originalidade, tendo por ponto de partida uma base já existente. No presente caso, isso significa analisar o aproveitamento feito por Cortázar, de elementos presentes na obra de Poe, isto é, quais as contribuições trazidas pelo autor argentino, ao fazer uma releitura do conto do escritor norte-americano. Convém ressaltar que nossa intenção não é tentar identificar qual dos dois autores é o melhor, e sim procurar salientar pontos marcantes comuns aos dois contos, as características que se sobressaem em ambos os textos. A bibliografia que utilizaremos, em nosso estudo, contém não somente obras relacionadas especificamente aos escritores estudados, mas inclui também textos, livros e artigos voltados para as áreas de literatura comparada e teoria literária.^len^aThe aim of this work is developing a comparative study between two important short stories of world-wide literature: The fall of the house of Usher, by Edgar Allan Poe and A house takenover, by Julio Cortázar. First we're going to make an individual analysis of each one of the stories in order to, after that, compare the two texts, searching to identify its similarities and differences. The methodology used in our work is based upon the theory of the intertextuality, that tries to point up, in general lines, how an author uses another one as his source, i.e., how a work finds its own originality taking for base another work already done. In this particular case, that means analyzing the uses made by Cortázar of given elements found in Poe's short story, i.e., the contributions brought by the Argentine author when making the re-reading of the story of the North American writer. It's important to say our intention is not to try to identify which one of the two authors is best, but look for common points in the two short stories, the distinguishing marks that stand out in both texts. The bibliography that we will use in our study contains not only works related specifically to the studied writers, but it also includes texts, books and articles linked to the areas of comparative literature and literary theory.
