^lpt^aO artigo trata do mal-estar na civilização, articulando-o à constituição psíquica do ser humano e suas identificações. Parte dos textos ditos sociológicos de Freud, em especial, "O Mal-Estar na Civilização" (1930) e "Por que a guerra?" (1933) para, em seguida, apontar a teoria da libido e pulsional como inerente à tensão conflitiva própria ao sintoma. Desenvolve que o interesse pela gênese do eu conduziu Lacan a propor o eu como uma estrutura paranoica, revertendo a ideia de tensão social para uma tensão entre o eu e os arautos do Outro representados pelos semelhantes, adversários e modelos.
