LEVISKY, David Léo. If God is an illusion, I am the fruit of His creation: the psychoanalyst, his religiosity and religion. Rev. bras. psicanál [online]. 2014, vol.48, n.3, pp.164-175. ISSN 0486-641X.
The author puts forward ideas and experiences of religion and religiosity. He raises questions around certain thoughts, such as: “If God is an illusion, I am the fruit of His creation”; “God is an invention of man to explain God's invention, the universe”; “I am God, the fruit of His work.” He inquires about the origins, nature and functions of religious feelings, distinguishing these feelings, which have accompanied man from his beginnings, from the concept of religion. Discussing the relations between religiosity and the sacred, and their cultural transformations throughout history, he considers religion as a social institution organized around beliefs, principles, rules and dogmas. Finally, he discusses faith and illusion as parts of human creativity based on concepts drawn from psychoanalysis.
