DANTAS JR, Alirio Torres. The ideals and the disillusion: the function of the utopias. Rev. bras. psicanál [online]. 2020, vol.54, n.4, pp.73-81. ISSN 0486-641X.
ABSTRACT The paper states that the ideals are inexistent psychical elements. They derive from the Oedipus complex, originated from the narcissistic economy and are linked to our identifications. Originated from our disillusions, they give support to their transformations in phantasies and illusions of pleasures which sustain the Ego in face of its limitations. Contemporary men spend a life between his desires that don't necessarily come true and his idealizations, besides the limitations of his own existence. Consequently, his Ego and its 'Ideal' are further apart. Utopias have a similar function as the dreams when they allow the experience to be worked on. They have another function, similar to the "Ideal of the Ego", because it supports the idealized identification which allows us to reinvest, once again, in the material world. These 'Ideals' bring us hope to deal with the disillusions feelings.
