The aim of this study was to present the process of developement and evidence of content validity of the Pictorial Self-knowledge Scale for Children and Adolescents (EPAC-CA) aged 8 to 14 years. This work has a descriptive and cross-sectional design. The process involved five steps: focus groups with expert judges and target population; establishment of dimensions and construction of items preliminary version; elaboration of illustrations; semantic analysis, adequacy and dimension of the items by five expert judges; semantic analysis by 25 participants from the target population. The final version, 47 items are part of the EPAC-CA. Only 20.37% (N=11) of the items underwent modifications. The results showed the adequacy of the content of this scale to assess the self-knowledge of children and adolescents. The EPAC-CA is a possibility to fill gaps in the assessment of self-knowledge and in the field of pictorial instruments. This study is the beginning of the validation process of a scale that can reach new studies of psychometric qualities, making it eligible for clinical use.
