Abstract

D'AGORD, Marta Regina de Leão. Psychoanalysis and Literature: why to read James Joyce. Estud. psicanal. [online]. 2010, n.34, pp. 111-116. ISSN 0100-3437.

What are the contributions to the psychoanalytic theory that can be found in the literature? The writers would be psychoanalysts avant la lettre? Aiming to contribute to these issues, the author presents a pathway of the reading of three works of James Joyce, namely: Dubliners (1914), A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man (1914) and Ulisses (1921). The themes and narrative style of that author are focused in a dialogue with concepts of the psychoanalytic theory.

Keywords : James Joyce; Psychoanalysis; Projection; Enjoyment.
