Abstract

OTTAVI, Dominique. Myth and chilhood alterity.Translated byMarília Etienne Arreguy. Estud. psicanal. [online]. 2017, n.47, pp. 15-23. ISSN 0100-3437.

The discussion about the educational value of the short stories (fairy tales) is not so exploited and even less clarified. The short stories, linked to the myth and to the folklore, is supposed to be exclusively devoted to the overtaking of the infantile in the childhood. Dominique Ottavi goes far from the simple assertion about the cognitive and maturational use of the short stories. The author rescues the Wittgenstein's critiques to a certain “primitivism” on the classical author's, as Van Gennep and Fraze's positions in the domain of short stories, and their priority destiny to the childhood, underestimating their value. Then the author rescue the freudian's concept of “uncanny” to show the fear's function of short stories, imposed to childhood as a condition to control children bias the alterity, that's also, in a certain way, affects the childish in adults.
