Abstract

FRAYZE-PEREIRA, João A.. Family secrets in exposition: psychoanalysis and languages of the contemporary art. Ide (São Paulo) [online]. 2007, vol.30, n.44, pp. 96-102. ISSN 0101-3106.

The article examines the handling of the family theme in contemporary art field, considering some works in expositions which the author has visited for the past few years. These expositions reveal the position of the contemporary artist as his time critic. Therefore, different kinds of languages, such as photography, cinema, video and installation, are used to give form to the transitional, the precariousness and the bias of all situations. The relationship between artists’ interpretative attitude and a certain way of working in the contemporary psychoanalysis is suggested.

Keywords : Contemporary art; Art-psychoanalysis; Family; Visual languages.
